The Q30—One Trade, First 30 Minutes

August 7th, 2026

When many traders sit down for the market open, they’re alone, staring at charts, and one impulsive click away from a bad morning. Lawrence Adisa built The Equity Trade Room to change that. In a focused 30-minute session in the NinjaTrader Ecosystem, he introduced the Q30, a rules-based strategy designed to find one clean trade in the first 30 minutes of the day and then let you get on with life.

The pitch is narrow. No information overload, no conflicting signals, and no promise of a magic 90% win rate. Just a repeatable pattern on the open, a disciplined routine, and a community built so traders don’t have to go it alone.

From the entertainment industry to the trading screen

Lawrence Adisa is not a full-time trader, and he’s upfront about it. His career has been in the entertainment industry, while trading stayed a part-time pursuit on the side. He first started on NinjaTrader 7 roughly 15–20 years ago.

That background, he says, turned out to be an unexpected edge. Years of working under pressure and staying composed when the stakes are high map neatly onto the discipline trading demands. So when NinjaTrader invited him to present late last year, it felt like a bit of poetic justice for someone used to being the attendee rather than the person at the front of the room.

The real enemy: trading alone and going on tilt

For Lawrence, the biggest threat to a trader is not a bad setup; it’s going on tilt. Many traders, he points out, sit alone in a home office, and when the impulse hits, they jump into one trade, bail out of another, and abandon the plan they walked in with. The isolation only makes it worse.

The Equity Trade Room is his answer. The idea is simple: gather as a community, take the one trade, turn the computer off, and go about the day. Lawrence has no interest in staring at charts for hours outside of backtesting. When it comes to live trading, the goal is to be in and out, and to sidestep impulsive trades, win or lose.

That community is the point of the room itself. Alongside the strategy, The Equity Trade Room offers live mentorship and access to the trade room, so members can learn the Q30 together and build the confidence, discipline, and consistency that can be hard to find trading solo.

The Q30: a rules-based approach to the market open

The Q30 is built entirely around the open. The U.S. stock market opens at 9:30 am ET, and Lawrence watches the first five minutes for his pattern. If it develops, he’s typically in and out within a few minutes. On some days a trigger can take up to 30 minutes to appear, but about 90% of the time he’s finished inside the first 5–10 minutes.

That speed is the point. He wants a strategy that’s consistent, quick, and repeatable, not one that keeps him glued to the screen all session. Once the pattern is clear, the trade becomes a decision rather than a debate.

Consistency over hype

Lawrence is openly skeptical of sellers who promote 90% win rates and guaranteed results. In his words, there is nothing 90% about the Q30, and he steers clear of anyone who claims otherwise.

What he offers instead is evidence and honesty. He backtested hundreds of trades across a few years, then forward-tested the setup on a demo account for months ahead of the webinar. In the trade room, everything is journaled, which gives him a couple of years of documented results and an overall win rate of about 70%. Nothing, he is careful to add, is guaranteed.

Simple, repeatable, and built for real traders

The thread running through the session is simplicity. Lawrence wanted to present his methodology the way a trader actually thinks: stripped of noise, conflicting indicators, and information overload. Once you learn the pattern and stay disciplined, he says, it becomes rinse and repeat.

It’s a deliberately different pitch from the norm, less about a flashy indicator and more about a routine you can run every morning and then walk away from.

Key takeaways

  • The Q30 focuses on a single trade in the first 30 minutes after the market opens at 9:30 am ET.
  • Lawrence watches the first five minutes for his pattern and is usually in and out within 5–10 minutes.
  • The strategy was backtested over a few years and forward-tested for months, with a journaled overall win rate of about 70% and no guarantees.
  • The Equity Trade Room is built to keep traders from trading alone and going on tilt.
  • The approach favors consistency, discipline, and simplicity over high win-rate marketing claims.
